An Editorial Training & Mentorship Course for Aspiring Children's Book Editors
If you want to work in children’s books, you are in the right place!
If you want to work in children’s books, you are in the right place!
The eleven modules are made up of several sections, each delving deeply into a particular area of children's publishing. The modules follow the chronological order of the book-making process so you get to learn exactly how a project goes from an initial idea to a finished product on the shelf. The content also includes important editorial documents, templates and guides.
Each module includes coursework that includes real-life editorial tasks, including the development of a new book proposal. By the end of the course, you will have a portfolio to show children's publishers that you can hit the ground running from day one. Previous participants have done this, with success.
Included in the course are a number of important discussion topics, including the barriers to literacy and reading, navigating AI, understanding neurodiversity, the fundamentals of inclusion in children's books – and more. These topics encourage you to reflect and research to build your awareness of conversations publishers are having – and prepare you to take part.
"This course is an absolute must if you want to break into publishing. Each module explains the editorial processes with clarity, and the expertise and inspiration that Claire provides will most certainly give you that crucial head start in the competition for jobs."
